The Athens Half Marathon has been held since 2012, inviting runners of all ages from Greece and abroad to participate in this great event in the Greek capital.
The Athens Half Marathon – a special race for all runners, experienced or not, as it offers them the opportunity to participate in a big celebration in the city of Athens.
More than 20,000 runners are expected to run on the streets of Athens joining one of the event’s races, which includes the half marathon, 5 km., 3 km. and the 1000 m. Race for People with Disabilities and Special Olympics athletes. The Athens Half Marathon constitutes an ideal opportunity for the runners to test themselves in view of the major Athens Marathon, the Authentic which will be held in November.
The Athens Half Marathon has the Greek National Tourism Organisation as a state partner.

Immediate medical assistance is offered by the event's medical staff at the Finish Line. Just after the finish, runners are offered a finishers' medal and may then proceed to pick up their clothing kit bag. Runners pick up their kit bags from exactly where they left it, presenting their race bib. Volunteers are always present to assist the runners.
In order for a runner to be eligible to participate in the Half Marathon Race, he/she needs to be at least 18 years old.
Feed zones are available along the Half Marathon Race course. Bottled water is offered at the Start, the Finish and all feed zones. Furthermore, isotonic drinks are offered to the Half Marathon runners in one of the feed zones along the course.
Distinction medals and diplomas are awarded only to the first three winners of the Race, both Men, and Women. All participating runners to finish the race receive a finishers’ medal, and they are able to download their personalized participation certificate after the announcement of the Official Race Results.
The time limit for any runner to complete the Half Marathon Race is set at 3 hours. All runners should have finished by 12.10.
The Athens Half Marathon Organizing Committee is working closely with the well-known International Photo Agency, Marathon-Photos.com from the website of which runners are able to view and order their personal photos 24 hours after the event (www.marathon-photos.com).
Electronic timing will be recorded at both the Start and the Finish, as well as at the 10km (split time). Additional timing checkpoints are found along the Half Marathon course as shown in the table above. The runners who have no timing indication at the Start, the Finish, the 10km or the split timing checkpoints will be disqualified.
